History of the Black Pack....
For more than thirty years the Providence College Men's Rugby Team has been one of the premier rugby programs in New England. The program began many years ago with just a few players looking to explore the game of Rugby; however, after 30 years and hundreds of dedicated players, the Black Pack has grown into a nationally competive rugby program! Today the Black Pack enjoys a roster of more than 50 dedicated student athletes from all across the country.
Over the years the team has developed into a highly competitive rugby program, cementing itself as one of the most competitive clubs in New England. The Black Pack has competed against the best collegiate rugby competition across the United States, in addition to competing internationally as team. Not only has the Black Pack competed in several New England Rugby Championships, Providence has taken several trips to US Rugby nationals, and captured several Beast of the East Rugby titles. Members of the Black Pack are consistently selected to New England collegiate allstar rugby teams, and players from the Black Pack are highly recruited by the best men's rugby clubs upon graduation.
Providence Rugby is a very competitive Division II Rugby program, recognized by USA Rugby and the New England Rugby Football Union. This fall the Black Pack will begin competing in the Rugby Northeast Conference, the first Division II Rugby Conference in the US.
The entire Black Pack looks for to continuing the storied history of our program and the athletic legacy of Providence College. Providence College Rugby will continue to develop a winning tradition on the field, and exemplify the mission statement of Providence College off the field.
